Son of Julius and Rosalia (Barnes)Schneider. Grew up in Joliet and Chicago, Illinois. Brother of Egbert D. Schneider (1888-1957) and half brother of Ralph Walker Schneider (1897-1955) and Harold Maxwell Schneider (1899-1918).

Raymond later moved to Freeport, Illinois, and worked as a bookbinder. He married Effie Mae Bender on 1 Sep 1908. They had 3 children: Georgia Mae (1909-1971), Virginia Rose (1911-1992), and Donald Julius (1913-1990).

In 1919, Raymond bought an almond orchard and moved with his family to Paso Robles, California. They moved to Southern California in 1921 and lived in San Jacinto. They also lived in Huntington Park and South Gate, California. Raymond was building a home on a farm in Lancaster, California at the time of his death.
