| Birth: | Nov., 1896 Dickens Clay County Iowa, USA | | Death: | Apr. 26, 1919 Brooklyn Kings County New York, USA |  Elsworth Culver was born on a farm near Dickens, Iowa, to Charles W. and Bessie (Elsworth) Culver. He enlisted in the navy June 14, 1917 into the hospital corps. He trained at the Great Lakes Naval Stattion and then was transferred into the Marines and trained at Quantico, Virginia. In November 1918 he was shipped to France arriving the day the armistice was signed. He became ill in France from diabetes and was returned to the U.S. to New York where he died in the naval hospital in Brooklyn on 26 April 1919.
