Mrs. Hughey was born in Union, SC December 16, 1920, a daughter of the late Harry V. Arthur and Clarice Sanders Arthur. She worked for many years at McCellan's Five & Dime and retired from Winn Dixie. Mrs. Hughey was a lifetime member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where she was a member of Mary Lybrand Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are a sister, Patricia Arthur Bradley and husband David of Gainesville, GA; a sister-in-law, Margaret Hughey of Union; a special friend, Phyllis Gentry of Union; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives. Mrs. Hughey was predeceased by two brothers, Harry V. Arthur, Jr and James A. Arthur.
Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2011 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
