Actress. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she began her career in the theatre and many performances on Broadway before making her film debut "The Return of Mandy's Husband" (1948). A popular character actor, she won The Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Take a Giant Step" (1959). Her other credits included "Edge of the City" (1957), "Green Mansions" (1959), "The Leech Woman" (1960) and "America, America" (1963). For television she was a regular on "The Philco Television Playhouse". She died in Hollywood, California.
