Scates, Geneva Kear - 69 of West Knoxville died suddenly Thursday January 1, 2004. She was a member of Lovell Heights Church of God and had retired from WhiteStores/Food City with over 43 years of dedicated service. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Earl F. Scates; son and daughter in law Larry Earl and Janet Scates all of Knoxville; granddaughter, Karen Cox and her husband Tony; brothers and sister in law, Rev. Hairl and Bertha Kear of Knoxville. Ray and Betty Kear of Dandridge, TN and Ralph and Jean Kear of Knoxville. A very special friend who was like a sister to Geneva, Shirley Starling and her husband Paul; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service: 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Lovell Heights Church of God with Rev. John Hughes, officiating. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers, Wayne Kear, Earl Kear, Jack Wilson, Bob French, Ralph Edward Kear and Shane French. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
