SYRACUSE, NY - Ray T. Burchell, 87, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, August 22, at the Syracuse VA Hospital.
He was a World War II veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He was a highly decorated Sergeant and among his medals is the Bronze Star.
Ray retired from Sears & Roebuck in 1988 and formerly worked at GE.
He was a member of CNY Chapter of the 82nd, VFW Post and DAV.
For over 45 years, he was a member of AA.
He was predeceased by his sons George and Ray III; his wife Rose; and his sisters Phyllis Clute and Elizabeth Neupert.
Surviving are his son Chris; his stepchildren Patsy Twenish and Pamela, Marvin, Willie, Micheline, Keith and David Mitchell; several grandchildren.
Services were at 2 pm Tuesday at Butler-Badman Funeral Home Inc, 4504 West Seneca Turnpike. Interment was at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
