Sharon (Brator) HECK
Sharon (Brator) Heck of Woodinville, Wa. died March 25th at the age of 66 at her family home surrounded by her loved ones. Sharon was born to Antoinette (DeVitis) and Peter Brator on January 22, 1945 in Seattle, Wa. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Heck-Engstrom of Monroe, Wa., her son Allen Heck and his wife Mo of Woodinville, Wa., her brother Daniel Brator, his wife Diana and niece Allison of Kirkland, Wa. Surviving her are seven grandchildren: Haley Heck, Scout Heck, Riley Heck, Five Heck, Gunnar Engstrom, Grayden Engstrom and Zaren Burnham. Also surviving are Keith Engstrom father of two grandsons and Joe Burnham father of one grandson. Sharon is also survived by her sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who adored their "Aunt Sherri". Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, of 44 years and her parents. Sharon started life in the Ballard area attending St. Alphonsus grade school and Holy Angles High School. After high school Sharon worked as a nanny for several years and then went to work at the University of Washington. While attending St. Alphonsus Church (Ballard) on Sundays, this petite dark haired young woman caught the eye of Ed. One Sunday after church he invited her for coffee. On June 18, 1966, Sharon married Ed at St. Alphonsus Church. They had two children Lisa Marie (1967) and Allen Edward (1968). In 1967, Sharon and Ed began a window business, Heck Window and Screen Supply Company, working out of their garage in Ballard. In 1969, Leona (Heck) and Clem Himmespach joined the business which relocated to Woodinville in 1970. For many years Sharon and Leona job-shared in the family business and also shared child care. For over 25 year Sharon participated in the "Grief Ministry" of St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Bothell providing luncheons & receptions for funerals. She was also an avid bowler, veracious reader, puzzle solver; loved traveling and fond of Casino trips. She loved working in her yard and feeding the birds. She was a superb grandmother, constantly engaging with her grandchildren in play and outings which she did with infinite patience, generosity and joy. The greatest gift she gave them was unconditionally love. Sharon had a great devotion to Mary, Mother of God. Sharon can say with Mary, "My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for God who is mighty has done great things for me and holy is God's name." [Luke 1: 46-47,49] Sharon will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
