John Alexander Jacobs, 76 year-old father of Jack Jacobs, backfield star for the Green Bay Packers, died, November 7, 1947, at a Muskogee hospital Friday afternoon, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services both in English and Indian will be conducted in the First Baptist church at Holdenville, Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. E. Kirk of Oklahoma City and Rev. George Tiger of Holdenville officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Holdenville under direction of the Mackey Funeral Home.
Mr. Jacobs, who lived in Muskogee, was born in Indian Territory, August 18, 187l. At the service, Monday, his nephews and sons-in-law will act as pallbearers, and members of the Trail Blazers and Pioneer Clubs of Holdenville will be honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include two sons; Frank of Muskogee and Jack, former Rougher football star who now lives at Green Bay, Wisconsin; seven daughters; Mrs. John T. Wright and Mrs. James G. Cleghorn of Muskogee; Beck Jacobs and Mrs. Harry E. Pugh of Tulsa; Mrs. Elsie Tate of Holdenville; Mrs. W. A. Miller of Chicago; and Anna Jacobs of Baltimore; two brothers; Newman of Holdenville and Lewis of Rogers, Arkansas; five sisters, Mrs. Ira Foster and Mrs. Edward Hailsey of Holdenville; Mrs. Leah McIntosh of Eufaula; Mrs. Elizabeth Alex of Wewoka; and Mrs. Sarah Perryman of Tulsa; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
