The surname is often spelled Huested.

The Will of Titus Husted dated July 9, 1832 was probated Oct 23, 1834 in Rensselaer County, New York Wills Vol. 18, p. 74. He had sons: Henry, Amos, Moses, Abraham and James; three daughters Margaret Boyce, Betsey Boyce, Lydia Bailey (4th dau. Millicent Mickel crossed out)

Titus Husted moved his family to a place 2 miles east of the Village of Nassau before the Revolutionary War, but left during the war on horseback to return to Dutchess County. This was when news of the British invasion from Canada swept through northern New York. The advancing British troops were accompanied by rampaging Indians who terrorized the settlers of northern New York and many families fled for their safety. Titus returned after the war and stayed.
