DEATH OF ED. T. LANDON The death of Edward Thomas Landon occurred at his late home, Elgin St., West Wallaceburg, on Friday, March 24th, after only a few days illness from plural pneumonia. He had only laid off from work at the Cooperage Co. the Monday previous to his death. The funeral took place on Monday, March 27th, service at the house with Rev. E.F. Armstrong. Interment in Wallaceburg cemetery. The pall bearers were Jno. Purser, Wm. Bulton, Donald McDonald, Rol(??) Sutherland, Isaac Hibbard and James Hibbard. Deceased was born in the State of Mass., US [Illinois], sixty-four years ago, his mother dying when he was but 2 years old. The same year his father, his one sister, now Mrs. John Cummings of Michigan and himself came to this part of the county, journeying via a team of oxen, making their first stop at the farm of the late Henry Winters, Sombra Twp. sixty-two years ago. Deceased "fired" for the old Morris stave mill for a number of years, thence on (….) dredge. He married Miss Edith May MacInnis, of Tupperville, who survives him. To them were born four children Marian, Edwin, Doris and Leatha, all at home. Among those who attended the funeral were Mrs. Frank Merrill of Chatham, D.A. MacInnes, of Dresden and Herbert C. Field of Windsor. The Cooperage Co. was closed this afternoon in honor of the deceased.
