Rock Musician. He was a member of the musical group "The Lovin' Spoonful", founding the group along with John Sebastian. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1944, he first got his big break when he joined the group the "Mugwumps" in 1964 along with Denny Doherty and "Mama" Cass Elliot. The band broke up in 1965 and then he joined with "The Lovin' Spoonful" as a guitarist and songwriter that same year. He was know as the zany one of the group. They recorded with the labels Kama Sutra, Platinum Disc, Rhon, Buddha, Pye, and Pair. After the group broke up in 1968, he went on to a solo career and recorded the hit "As Long As You're Here" and one LP. In later life, he lived in semi-retirement but came out occasionally to play with the likes of John Sebastian and Kris Kristofferson. The Lovin' Spoonful's hits include, "Do You Believe In Magic?," "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice," "Daydream," "Summer In The City," "Rain On The Roof," "Nashville Cats," and "Six O'Clock." He died at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack. (bio by: K)
