In 1900 he moved with his parents to Cracow, Poland-Russia section of pre-World War I Poland. In 1904 his family moved to Suchowalo, Poland-Russia, and he lived there until about 1922.
In 1922 he moved to Berlin, Germany, to get a job to work his way to America. In 1923 he finally got an American passport and returned to America where he settled in Cleveland, Ohio.
He died in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1990. His Social Security Death Notice states that he was Widowed when he died. After farther indepth research, it was discovered that he married a Mrs. Jozephine Baran (1900-1982) with three know children from her previous marriage in New York: Charles Baran, b. 1918; John Baran, b. 1920; and Helen Baran, b. 1924. The 1940 census listed her three children at his household with his surname; however, Kony did not return to America until 1923.
