Mackin worked as a Great Lakes seaman and served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II. He was also employed as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a longtime member of Ohio Operating Engineers, Slovak Club and Port Charlotte Pinochle Club and a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain.
Survivors include his daughters Kathy Daignault, Janice Caldwell and Monica Mackin; brothers Carl Mackin and James Mackin; and three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Stella Toderich; and his parents, John and Agnes (nee Bark) Mackin.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
