Former trade unionist. He was during two decades the general secretary of the Bus Drivers Trade Union (UTA) until 2006 and former member of the Executive Committee of International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) from 1998 to 2006. In 1990 next Hugo Moyano founded the Argentine Workers Movement (MTA) to oppose the policies of then President Carlos Menem. In 2006 he retired due to scandal produced when, after a journalistic researching, was discovered that he owned 3 important ranchs. Since his retirement he lived self-exiled in Miami in a luxury condominium.

Cause of death: road accident when a luxury Mercedes Benz 4x4 van overturned on Route 205 in the town of Roque Pérez, Buenos Aires Province.
