L. Juanita Bean, age 89, of Mattoon, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 15th, 2005, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral services in tribute to her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20th, at the Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Don Roberts officiating, assisted by the Reverend Dr. John B. Crutcher. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Juanita was born October 5, 1915, in Mattoon, a daughter of Dola and Leona (Zike) Miller. She married Chester A. "Chick" Bean Jr. on July 30, 1932. He passed away March 2, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Howard, Eugene and Wayne Miller; and a grandson, Tom Bean Sr.

Survivors include her son, Donald L. Bean Sr. and wife Betty of Mattoon; her daughter, Loretta E. Fuller and husband Larry of Mattoon; her sister, Pauline Horn of Brownsville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Kenneth L. Bean of Mattoon; seven grandchildren, Don Bean Jr. and wife Jacquelyn of Marshall, Texas, Mary Ann Bean of Mattoon, Tina Dennis and husband David of Downer's Grove, Bryan Fuller of Florida, Janet Fuller of Mattoon, Lynn Riley and husband Lee of Gays and Anita Swearingen and husband Gregg of Mattoon; fourteen great-grandchildren, Donna, Billy, Jon, Kenny, Tom Jr., Robert, Tim, Ella, Evan, Natalie, Shayne, Colton, Jennifer and Anissa; and two great-great-grandchildren, Timothy and Jessica.

Juanita was a loving homemaker. She and her husband Chick loved square dancing and in their younger years they were known for calling at square dances they attended throughout Illinois, Kirkwood, Missouri and Indiana. Making quilts, crocheting and sewing brought her much joy as well as sharing her creations with her family. Family was highly important to her. She also loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She attended Grace Fellowship.

Memorial gifts in her honor are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
