Williams highshool during desegregation in 1971. While at T.C. he joined the football team as a linebacker. The team was undefeated. He was named "Among the Top 100" and was selected by Coach and Athelete magazines as one of the top 100 football players in the nation. On his way home from the banquet dinner he was involved in a automobile accident. He was rendered paralyzed from the waist-down. In the Wheelchair Olympics he went on to win the gold medal in Shot-put. A movie was made about the team "Remember the Titans" depicting the struggle with racism and integration in the 70's.
