Ruth L. Matyi, 84 of Bradenton, Florida passed away with her daughter Carol at her side on December 31, 2010.

Born July 10, 1926 in Lorain, Ohio, Ruth moved to Bradenton in 2007. She had been employed at Hill's Department Store. She was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Lorain (n.k.a. St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church)and of the Alter and Rosary Society.

She married Albert Matyi and was married 51 years before he preceded her in death on November 28, 1998.

She is survived by her daughters Carol (Tom) Kubik of Anna Maria, Florida and Lois Bauer of Tega Cay, South Carolina and by her son Robert J. Matyi of Roswell, Georgia; by her sister Gladys Lenhard of Lorain; her brother Charles Lenhard of Elyria; grandchildren Shelly Adams (Bruce) and Bill Bauer, of Tega Cay, South Carolina and Adam Matyi and Julie Matyi of Roswell, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Gabrielle Adams of Tega Cay, South Carolina.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her in Lorain and in Bradenton for her unselfish giving to family and friends. She was best known for her love of cooking and baking.

Funeral services will be held in July 2011 in Lorain when she will be buried next to her husband in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to Mother Cabrini's Cupboard, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain, OH 44055.
