KINGSPORT - Amos "Mitchell" Holt Jr., age 59, Kingsport, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the Veteran's Hospital, Johnson City, following an extended illness.
He was retired from Quebecor (Kingsport Press), and retired from the Army Reserves (844th Engineering), Kingsport. He also served a tour duty in Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Amos "Mitchell" Holt Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Brewer Holt; a son, Donald Ray Holt; two daughters, Cynthia (Cindy) Holt, Amy Holt Livingston; six grandchildren, all of Kingsport; mother, Lilly Mae Horton Holt; a brother and sister-in-law, Avery and Maxine Holt, all of Eidson; two nephews, Rev. Stephen Holt, Surgoinsville, and Mark Holt, Eidson.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Stephen Holt and Fred Gilreath officiating. Military graveside services were held by Kingsport VFW Color Guard Monday, June 24, 2002, at Highland Cemetery.
