Lt. Donald Wilson Furber served his country as a Co-Pilot (and occasionally, Tailgunner) of several B-17s in the European Theatre during WWII. His first mission was on the "Damn Yankee" (Serial # 41-24557) and his service ended when he was KIA on board the "Elise" (42-37727). "Elise" went down on January 30, 1944 in the vicinity of Rohrsen located in Bad Münder, Germany under heavy enemy fire before she could deliver her payload targeting an aircraft assembly plant. 7 of her crew became POWs while the plane's Navigator, Lt.
