William was a retired chief engineer at the U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home who was a Mason, died of cancer Nov. 17 at a hospital in Dublin, Ga.

William was born in Cumberland, Md. He moved to the Washington area during the 1920s and graduated from the old Washington Electrician School.

During the 1930s, he was the chief electrician at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He became chief electrician at the Soldiers' Home in the 1940s and later was promoted to chief engineer. He retired from that job in 1969 and moved to Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta K. Andes of Dublin; two daughters, Mary Dolores Robinson of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Gloria Jean Steadman of Ellicott City, Md.; a sister, Mary Hough of Harpers Ferry; a brother, Eugene P. Andes of Hagerstown, Md.; and one granddaughter.
