She was the daughter of Thomas French, Sr. and Susan-Susannah-Sara J. Riddlesdale of Assington, Suffolk, England. She was born between July 13 - 31, 1614 in England and died Dec. 30, 1697 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Dorcas came to Boston, Massachusetts in 1633 as an indentured servant for three years to the Governor of Massachusetts. Later she married Christopher Peake and had about eight children. After he died, the widow married Griffin Craft(s). There were no children of this marriage.

A descendant of her brother Thomas French, Jr., a tailor in Boston, was Joseph Smith, Jr. who is known as the LDS prophet. Joseph Smith, Jr. started the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the United States. This LDS relationship has nothing to do with descendants of Griffin Crafts who was previously married. I have been informed by Don Blauvelt that some of the descendants of Griffin Crafts have been Congregationalists and Presbyterians for 350 years.
