Services for Mrs. Allen will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at First Baptist Church in Old Hickory with the Rev. Judd Hays and the Rev. Sturgis Poorman officiating. Interment will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home.
Mrs. Allen, 95, of Old Hickory, died Monday, May 16, 2011, after a brief illness. She was a homemaker, an active member of First Baptist Church, Old Hickory, where she taught the seventh grade girls Sunday School class for many years, and was part of the Women's Missionary Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor C. Allen; parents, Harris and Cassie Freeland; and sisters, Christine F. Poorman and Allene F. Durham.
Survivors include: daughter, Anita (Robert) Redden; grandson, R. Allen (Melanie) Redden; granddaughter, Angela (John) Estes; great-grandsons, Craig Redden, Scott Estes and T. J. Estes; great-granddaughter, Rachel Redden; sisters, Theda Thomas, Lorene Douglas and Jeanette (Bill) Evatt; brothers, Goldman D. (Sarah) Freeland and Donald (Sue) Freeland and very close extended family.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
