Birth: Feb. 12, 1773
Barnstable County
Massachusetts, USA
Death: Sep. 1, 1866

Polly Hopkins was the daughter of Elkanah Hopkins and Deborah Chipman. This is a proven Mayflower line to Stephen Hopkins.

It seems she was born in a part of Harwich that later turned into a section of Brewster, or vice versa. She is listed as born in Harwich in some records, and born in Brewster in others.

Holbrook, Jay Mack, Harwich, MA Vital Records-1665-1890, (1986), Fiche 20, Harwich Town Records 1731-1794, Vol. 2, p. 357, Marriages entered in Harwich: Mr. Daniel Baker of Yarmouth & Miss Polly Hopkins of Harwich, entered March 30, 1793.

They had several children, including Deborah Chipman, Elkanah Hopkins, Hopkins, Ebenezer, John, Lemuel Hopkins, Waterman, Abigail "Nabby", Mary J., Ruth and Jedidah.

We have not been able to locate her burial place, nor her husband Daniel Baker's burial place.

Holbrook, Jay Mack, MA Vital Records-Yarmouth 1665-1890, Fiche 42, Yarmouth Deaths 1844-1870, 1 Sept. 1866 - Deaths registered in Yarmouth, MA, line 26, Polly Baker (Hopkins), widow, age 93 yrs 6 mo 20 days, died of old age, born in Brewster, parents Elkanah & Polly Hopkins, widow of Daniel Baker.

NOTE: Her mother's name was Deborah Chipman, not Polly. This is an error in the vital record. Her mother died when she was a young girl, and she used her mother's name when naming her first born child.
