Jacob Bair was born Feb. 10th in Prairie, Holmes County, Ohio, to Christopher Bair and Barbara Simon Bair. He is the 6th child of ten, listed in Christopher Bair Bible, published in "Ancestral Notes from Chedwato" Supplement no. 15, May 1964, pg.178.

The family can be found in the 1840 and 1850 census for Prairie Twp., Holmes Co., Ohio. In 1850 Jacob is listed as a farmer. In the 1860 census Jacob is living with his sister Elisabeth Livensberger and his father Christopher Bair in Cedar Creek, Allen Co., Indiana. Jacob is listed as a farmer.
