| Birth: | Aug., 1847 Muskegon County Michigan, USA | | Death: | Apr. 26, 1930 Crow Wing County Minnesota, USA | George's parents were Louis Badeaux (French Canadian) and a full Ojibway or Objibwe, or Ojibwa, indian women whose name we do not know but her heritage is evidenced by the deguerreotype photo we have of her. Looking at pictures of George, his french and Objibway heritage shows clearly on his face. George was born in Muskegon, Michigan, July 4, 1847. George had a brother, William; both were lumbermen and for whom a small community, Badeaux's Station" was named. As the owner/operator of a shingle mill producing some 45,000 (shingles ?) per day*. Badeaux Station was located on the Big Rapids branch of the C & W M, R.R. southeast of Holton, Michigan. George married Laura Anna Steffenson of Chicago, Illinois. In the 1886 they moved to Brainerd in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. The family settled in the northwast section of the city. William did not follow. George took his shingle mill machinery with him with the intent of opening milling operations again, once settled. With some 40 acres of timber land to harvest, George never set up his shingle mill operation again. This information came from his son Willard.
