Sampson Siler was the son of Sherrod Siler and Elizabeth Rickett. At the age of twenty he volunteered for the Spanish American War. He served as Private in Co. A of the 4th Reg. Ky Infantry. He was first married to Mollie Centers 18 Dec 1900. One child, Clara Siler was born 12 Jan 1902. After Mollie's death he married Martha Agnes Long, daughter of Hiram Long and Araminta/Areatha Brock, on 25 January 1906, Bell County, Kentucky. He was a sawmiller.
