Continental Congressman, US Congressman. He graduated from Harvard University in 1782. Elected as a Delegate from Virginia to the Continental Congress, serving in 1788. Elected as a Representative from Virginia to the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1797 to 1814. He delivered dispatches from President John Adams to the Government of France in 1801, and served as an aide to Generals Jacob Brown and Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812. (bio by: Garver Graver)
