DAVENPORT - Anna J. Anders, 100, of Davenport died Monday, July 20, 2009, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church. The Runge Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the church.
Anna was born November 9, 1908, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick and Anna M. (Holdenried) Sulzbach. She married Alfred W. Anders on June 3, 1950, in Clinton. He preceded her in death.
She served her country during World War II at the Naval Air Station in Pasco, Wash., from 1943 until 1945.
She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years. She enjoyed attending service at the Davenport Lutheran Home Chapel and belonged to NARFE. Anna traveled extensively and loved to read and garden.
Those left to honor her memory include a dearly loved stepson, Ronald L. Anders, and his wife, Mary, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, sisters, Marian Sulzbach, Dorothea Plum, Frances Follin, Helen Sulzbach, and Louise Schroedel, and brothers, Harold, Wilbur and Frederick Sulzbach, preceded her in death.
