Alice Vaughan Lucas Hutson, of Mt. Pleasant, the wife of Harry Colcock Hutson, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 14, 2011.
She was born in Charleston, SC, on Saturday, April 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Thomas Cordes Lucas and Alice May Vaughan Lucas.
Mrs. Hutson was a graduate of Winyah High School in Georgetown and Winthrop College.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of South Carolina, SC Historical Society, Nature Conservancy (a life member), The Society for the Preservation of Spirituals, The Lowcountry Open Land Trust and The St. James Santee Historical Society.
Mrs. Hutson worked for twenty five years at Abide-A-While Nursery in Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harry C. Hutson, Jr.; a daughter, Katherine 'Kit' Hutson Turek of Mt. Pleasant; four sons, Thomas Cordes Lucas Hutson of Mt. Pleasant, Harry C. 'Corky' Hutson, III of Sumter, SC, William Vaughan Hutson of Columbia, SC, Richard Elliott Hutson of Adams Run, SC; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hutson is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Lucas Easley and Katherine Lucas Bull, both of Georgetown.
The relatives and friends of Alice L. Hutson are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., May 17, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Edisto Island, SC, with interment following in the Churchyard.
