Louise Huser Bergman, 92, died peacefully on May 12, 2011 at Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 16 at Grace Lutheran Church, Des Moines. A lunch will be served after the service, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 7.

Louise was born May 28, 1918 in Readlyn, Iowa to August Buhr & Emily Liebau. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Carl Huser and grandparents William and Louise Liebau. She graduated from Waverly High School and Wartburg College. On May 23, 1942 she married Cletus Bergman. They moved to Des Moines where they taught school. Louise spent the last 23 years of teaching at Hubbell Elementary.

After retirement she was active as a guide at Hoyt Sherman Place, tutoring children at Des Moines elementary schools, making school bags for overseas relief projects, took-in people of need and was very active at her church.

She is survived by her brother Verne of Albuquerque, New Mexico; children, Charles (Cathy), Bruce (Barb) and Tricia all of Des Moines, and Kirk (Anne Marie) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren Ryan (Laura), Amy (Damon) Walker, Colleen (Chris) Murphy, Mike (Jessie), Jon (Cari), Adam (Casie), Andrew, Vinnie, Mary Kate, Brenna and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Cletus and her brother Paul.
