**NEVER MISSED A DALLAS MAVERICKS GAME!!! This Championship is what you waited for Bud!!! You ALWAYS Kept the FAITH!!! Thank you Dallas Mavericks - Bud was there, we just know it.

A very dear friend of my family for over fifty years. He grew up in South Oak Cliff with my Dad. He graduated 1962 from South Oak Cliff High School.

The "Rat Pack" remained friends for a lifetime - Bud and Joyce Smith - James and Patsy Dodd - Lloyd and Margie Crocker, David Wells and Winfred Richardson.

The Rat Pack would gather at the South Loop Drive-In. A favorite place for all of the gang was "Roller Coaster Hills" out by Mountain Creek Lake - up and down the hills as fast as the old car could go -- sometimes at night with no lights! Young and living for the moment! This time of all of their lives was truly HAPPY DAYS! Everyone got married, raised families.

In younger years, they gathered at the Debonair Danceland in East Dallas frequently and enjoyed good times together. Many parties at each other's homes. The last gathering of everyone was in summer of 1994 at The Floyd Homeplace where they all gathered as teenagers.

In 2006, my parent's dear friend Bud introduced me to my loving husband, Bernard. Bud had been friends with Bernard, and they had worked together over thirty years for various engineering companies in the Dallas area.

Bud cared about his many friends, he always had a smile and everyone loved him.

Many, many happy memories.
Forever in our hearts.

Preceeded in death by wife of 38 years Joyce Marie Smith, 2005. Also by his parents: Earl McKinney Smith and Nynva J. Tyner Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim Phillips and husband Mark; son, Jeff Smith; grandson, Joey Phillips; fiancee, Linda Engstrum; sisters, Rita Douglas and husband Dickie, Linda Franks and husband Lonnie; nieces and nephews, Amie Douglas, Scott Douglas, Chris Hedgepeth, and Jill Hedgepeth.
