Gainesville (Cooke County)
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today in the First Pentecostal church, 504 North Taylor street, for Charles Massey, 71, who died Thursday morning in a Gainesville hospital. The Rev. Walter Honeywell, pastor, officiated. Interment was in New Hope cemetery, directed by Vernie Keel Funeral Home.
Bearers were Jay James, Garnett Harris, Boyd Isbell. Alton Alexander, E. E. Sluder and Pete Harris.
Massey was born in Tennessee. He married Miss Sara McMullen at Cordell, Okla., Aug. 6, 1908. They moved to Cooke county in 1943. He was a retired farmer and member of the local Holiness church.
Massey is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J. L. Jenkins and Mrs. Don Cord, both of Valley View; two sisters, Mrs. May James of Denton and Mrs. Pearl Alexander of pilot Point; three brothers, Dave Massey of Bulter, Mo., Sam Massey of San Antonio and L. T. Massey of Valley View; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
