James Morrison "Jimmie" Mayo, a longtime resident of Jenks, died Nov. 6 (1987), after suffering a heart attack. He was 80.
Mr. Mayo was born in Brainerd, Minn., in 1907. After graduating from Dunwoody Instiute in Minneapolis in 1930, he was emplobyed by IBM. He worked for the same company until his retirement in 1972.
In 1933, he married Mary Frances Parsons. The family moved to Jenks in 1951, after living in Texas and Oklahoma City.
Mr. Mayo was active in the Jenks Lions Club and served as its president in 1963-64.
After retirement, he busied himself with varous projects, including the automated "Rolamonica," a toy carnival that delighted many area children at Christmastime.
Mr. Mayo could regularly be seen drinking coffee and chatting with friends at local restaurants.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances, of the home; two sons, James Jr. and George Timothy, both of Jenks; four daughters, Patricia Anne, Wagoner, Margaret Elizabeth ("Betsy"), Dayton, Ohio, and Mary Susan and Sarah Eileen ("Sally"), both of Jenks; two brothers, Lyle, of Brainerd, Minn., and Clayton, of Montgomery, La; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
