William Venoyd Lee, 86, of Mooresville, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 29, 1920, he was a son of the late William Ruben and Blanch Nance Lee.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during World War II. He was retired from Burlington Industries and later enjoyed working at Harris Teeter. He was a lifelong member of Prospect Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Alexander Lee; brothers, Melvin F. "Bud" Lee and Eugene Lee.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Nell Alexander Lee; daughters, Susan Fields and husband, Eric, of Statesville, Terri Dougherty and husband, Robert, of Mooresville, Cathy Gibson and husband, Jerry; sons, William V. Lee II and wife, Bonita, of Winston-Salem, Bruce Edward "Eddie" Lee and wife, Kathy, of Mt. Ulla, John Michael Chester and wife, Una, of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Mildred Couch, Meriel Wilson, Betty Ruth Lunsford, Marlene Moore and husband, Jerry, and Beverly Chappell and husband, CP, all of Mooresville; brother, Norman Ray Lee and wife, Mary, of Maryland; sister-in-law, Sarah Lee of Mooresville; grandchildren, Andrew, Lee, Jason, Jennifer, Michelle, Sarabeth and Susanna, great-grandchildren, Hunter, Peyton, Jonah, Stephen, Drew, Lyndsey, Madison and Hannah.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Prospect Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joanne Hull officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Propect Presbyterian Church, 9425 W. NC Hwy 152, Mooresville, NC 28115. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville served the family of Mr. Lee.
