Mrs. Goodnight Dies Monday; Rites Tuesday
HOLLAND (TX) – Mrs. Owen Goodnight, 67. Of Holland died at her home about 4 a.m. Following a heart attack.
Mrs. Goodnight was born Dec. 21, 1895, near Haynesville, Alabama and had her home in and around Holland since 1900.
She was the former Lillian Duck and was married to Owen Goodnight in Holland November 9, 1911. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Holland.
Survivors are her husband; Four daughters, Mrs. David Walker of High Point N.C., Mrs. Roy Ragsdale of Belton, Mrs. Hubert Nutt of Valley Mills and Mrs. Carolyn Simmons of Temple; five sons, Owen Goodnight Jr. of San Marcos, Ed Goodnight of Bartlett, Dr. C. D. Goodnight of Holand and Melvin Goodnight of Holland and Wayne Goodnight of Bartlett; 18 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Holland with Rev. George Blomer officating. Burial will be in the Holland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gus Whitlow, Glenn Latham, Bill Williams, Dell Liles, Charles Starke, Joe Cooper, Mike Carisle and Gene Liles.
