James W. Butler, 87, of 8 Rickey Place, died Wed evening at Millard-Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, after a short illness.

Born Feb. 25, 1914 in Pennsylvania, his parents were the late Oscar and Jennie
(Parker) Butler.

Mr. Butler has lived in the Western NY area for the past 42 years, much of that time spent in the Byron- Batavia area. He had engaged in general farming most of his life. He had also worked for Lapp Insulator in LeRoy for 12 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall In Middleport He was a member of the Senior Citizens of Western Orleans and had worked for the Green Thumb Program In Albion. He had lived for the past two years in Medina.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife Ruby (Nichols) Butler; five sons, Lloyd Butler of Groveland, NY, David Butler of Jacksonville, FL, Robert Butler of Brooklyn, Dale Butler of Ft. Bragg, NC, Carl Butler of Batavia; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia McLain of Attica, Mrs. Roger (Karen) Smith of Batavia, Mrs. Wayne (Alice) Owen of Lyndonville, Miss Debra Butler of Batavia; three brothers, Francis Butler of PA, Harold Butler of AZ, Robert Butler of Batavia; one sister, Helen VanCise of Batavia.

Burial will be in North Byron Cemetery, Byron, NY.
