Death of Mrs. J. H. Browning.

—Grandmother Browning passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James A. Montague, 7 miles northwest of Newark on Friday morning, January 7, after an illness of only a few days from pneumonia. She was 84 years, 2 months and 8 days old.
—"Aunt Lucy," as she was familiarly called, was the daughter of John and Elizabeth McKenzie. She was the eldest of 11 children and was born in Henry county, Ky. She united with the Old Sligo Baptist church when about 14 years of age. On September [Oct] 16, 1852, she was married to John Henry Browning who died about 5 years ago.
—Mrs. Browning with husband and children emigrated from Kentucky to Missouri November 1, 1881, and settled on the farm where she lived until about four months prior to her death. After coming to Missouri she united with the Mt. Salem Baptist church where she was ever a faithful member until called home.
—Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Scott, and interment made in the Mt. Salem cemetery Sunday morning.
—She leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, three sisters, one son, Chas. Knauer and a daughter, Mrs. James A. Montague, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

DEATHS—Mrs. Lucy Jane Browning, an early Knox County settler, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James A. Montague, seven miles northwest of Newark Friday morning, January 7, 1916 after an illness of only a few days of pneumonia.
—She was born in Henry County, Kentucky, November 1, and lived to be a good age of 84 years, 2 months and 6 days.
—She was married to John Henry Browning September [Oct.] 16, 1852, who died five years ago, March 14.
—Mrs. Browning with her family emigrated from Kentucky to Missouri Nov. 1, 1881, and settled on the farm where she lived until about four months prior to her death. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Scott, and interment was made at Mt. Salem Church.
