According to 'A History of Cleveland and its Environs', Willis Hale graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1870. Early in his life, he was worked in his father's bank. He had large investments in mining properties in Idaho and was president of the Hale Electric and Engineering Company.
Also according to both the Worthington book and the History of Cleveland, he and his wife Clarissa had four children: Edwin Worthington Hale, Clara (Hale) Rogers, Eleanor (Hale) Reader and Willis W. Hale.
