Daughter of the Russian Major General Nikolay Arapov. She married Mannerheim following advice of Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna. After the birth of two daughters and a still born son, the relationship between them started to deteriorate and Aanastsia went to the Far East to serve as a nurse. In 1919 they divorced and she followed her younger daughter to emigration in France.
