He is survived by his wife, Bertha Mehring Essel, who he married one and one half years ago; two sons, Virgil J. of Spokane, WA and August J., Jr., of Yorkville and a daughter, Miss Mary Essel of Duluth, MN. He is survived by the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Josphine Jaeger, Mrs. Louisa Lirot, both of Alsace, France, Mrs. Marie Aubert, Mrs. Alphonse Lirot, Miss Victoria M. Essel, Miss Virginia Essel, all of Utica, Emil Essel of Haverhill, MA, Desire J., Joseph C. and Virgil Joseph Essel, all of Utica and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
