Miss Hazel E. Carson, 92, of 22 Centennial St., Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 18, in her home. She was in failing health since falling Monday.

Born Nov. 10, 1902, in Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Catharine Smith Carson.

She lived all her life in the Fairfield area. She graduated from the Fairfield High School with the class of 1921. She then graduated from Shippensburg Normal School, presently Shippensburg University, with the class of 1927 with a degree in education.

She taught elementary education in the Fairfield School District for 47 years. She retired on June 4, 1968.

She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Fairfield, and taught Sunday school in the church for a number of years. She was also a member of the Adams County and National Retired Teachers Associations, the National AARP, and a charter member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

She is survived by one sister, Kathryn C. Kelly of Taneytown, Md., and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 23, 3 p.m., in the Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Revs. Rex A. Baker and John K. Burk officiating. Interment will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery, Fairfield.
