Funeral services for Reese Strong, 91, of Henderson, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ricky Ricks officiating. Interment will be in Strong Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.
Mr. Strong passed away May 5, 2011 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1919 in Henderson. Reese attended Texas A & M University and served in the 45th Division in the European theater of operations. He was retired from Johnson County Electric Co-op as manager and was a former manager of Rusk County Electric Co-op. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Pals Sunday School Class.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Mae Ross Strong.
Survivors include: sons, Dr. William Reese Strong and wife Rachel from Killen, AL., and Tommy Strong and wife Linda of Henderson; brothers, Jack Strong and wife Jackie of Longview, and Charles Strong and wife Nancy of Henderson; sister, Melba Taylor of Henderson; grandchildren, Rita Strong of Alabama, Morgan Strong Martin and husband Jesse of Alabama, Julie Tate and husband Devin of Henderson, and Bryan Strong and wife Jenny of Round Rock; and great-grandchildren, William and Emily Tate, and Andy and Allison Strong.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Strong, Devin Tate, Gyce Butler, Cliff Hurt, Judge Donald Ross(Ret.), Dr. Byron Taylor, Stephen Strong, and Buddy Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Strong - Hurt Coffee Club and the Pals Sunday School Class.
