Mrs. Robert Caldwell Dead
It is four years last December since Robert Caldwell died at his home on West Hill. Friday last, January 29, 1897, his wife followed him. For two years or more, Mrs. Caldwell's home has been in Oklahoma. Two weeks, or more ago she went to Chicago to undergo a surgical operation for a tumor. On Wednesday, the operation was performed, from the effects of which she died Friday afternoon. Her daughter, Kitty, was with her at the time of her death. She never fully rallied from the shock of the operation. The remains were brought to Columbus Junction Saturday night. The funeral took place from the Methodist church Tuesday at 10 o'clock a.m. Interment at Columbus City cemetery, by the side of her husband. She leaves two children, Catharine and Bert, who have the warmest sympathies of all in this second sad bereavement.
