| Birth: | 1952 | | Death: | Jul. 26, 1990 |  Musician. Born in Munich, Germany, he was best known as the keyboard player for the band the Grateful Dead. In 1978, he was doing a solo project with Grateful Dead member Bob Weir, when he was asked to join the band. From 1979, until his death, he was an integral part of the Dead, touring, recording and he wrote many of the group's songs, including "Hell in a Bucket", "Just a Little Light", "Far From Me" and "Easy to Love You".
