Born Augustine Navarro, at home, 1400 Pleasant Avenue. in Boyle Heights. Graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Boyle Heights, Class of 1935. Semi-pro baseball player in the Cincinnati Reds farm organization, beginning in Rogers, AR in 1937. Catcher in the Pacific Coast League for Ogden, Boise and Pocatello 1939-1941. Served in the Army 1942-45; veteran of the North African campaign, D-Day invasion and Patton's Third Army. Attached to VIII Corps during the Battle of the Ardennes and siege of Bastogne. Later baseball radio broadcaster for Ogden (KLO) and Salt Lake City (KALL) semi-pro teams 1946-1974.
