| Birth: | Apr. 9, 1866, Denmark | | Death: | May 16, 1933 Dannebrog Howard County Nebraska, USA |  Jens, sometimes known as "J.C." or "James", was the son of Soren "Post" Pedersen and Mette Marie "Maria" Sorensdatter. In 1880 Soren and Mette moved from Denmark to the U.S. along with Jens' siblings Kirestine, Nels, Soren, and Anton. They arrived in New York Harbor aboard the S.S. Habsburg on May 28, 1880.
In 1889 Ane Madsen was working as a cook and seamstress in a boardinghouse for railroad workers in the Wyoming Territory. It was there that she met Jens "James" Christian Sorensen. On August 31, 1889 they were married in Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory.
After homesteading in Wyoming, they moved to western Nebraska where they lived in a dugout/sod house. Subsequently they moved to the Loup City, NE area and finally settled for several decades in the area around Boelus and Dannebrog, NE. Jens & Ane had 13 children, 10 of whom lived to adulthood.
