Thomas J. Killen was born in Mississippi to Benjamin Franklin Killen (1803-1880) and Penelope Hopy Rodgers (1819-1860). It appears that he moved to Louisiana sometime between 1866 & 1871. According the family bible he married Rosanna Sophia Grant on March 26, 1871 and they were married by Jake Killen (relation unknown). Based on when and where his children were born and the date of his assignment as the 1st Postmaster of Hot, Texas it appears that Tom and Rosa and their 10 children moved to Hot, Shelby County, Texas somewhere between 1889 and 1897. In addition to Tom and Rosa, seven of their 10 children are also buried in McClelland plus many generations of Killens.
