Cheryl Ann was born October 30, 1957 in Shawnee, OK, the oldest daughter of Donald Arlin and Cordelia "Corky" Phyllis Lejska Nichols. She lived her entire life in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1976. She worked as a dispatcher for the Shawnee Police Department for 30 years, going from the pencil and paper era to the Enhanced 911 and Computer Aided Dispatch of the 21st Century. She retired early to nurse her mother through her final illness.
Cheryl had several different hobbies through the years. She took up bead work and gave all her friends and family different craft gifts. She moved on to ceramics and gifted friends with interesting, if unusual ceramics. She finally found her true calling, counted cross-stitch. Cheryl was amazingly talented with a needle and her cross-stitch ornaments and pictures were greatly appreciated by those lucky enough to receive one. The one hobby that she had through all the years was graving. She loved to roam around the county, checking out older cemeteries and taking photos. That lead to her posting over 6,000 memorials and photos on Find A Grave.
Cheryl also had a much beloved dog, Jack. She loved nothing better than to dress him up for the holidays. She also dressed him up and entered him in Halloween Costume Contests, insisting that his losses were because the contests were rigged.
Cheryl's parents preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister Sandra, brother-in-law Donald, nephews Matthew and Jared and a niece Cassandra, as well as family, many friends and Jack.
