Tempie Mann Brown, of Route 1, Waynesboro, died Sunday, November 18, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Brown, a native of Elkton, was a musician and teacher in Waynesboro, and was a founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro.
Surviving are a husband, Fred D. Brown; a daughter, Deborah Hanger, of Richmond; three sons, Lane Brown of Virginia Beach, Douglas Brown, of Richmond, and Mitchell Brown, of Salisbury, Maryland; a brother, Randolph Mann, of Roanoke; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, at the McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, by Dr. M. Bland Dudley. Burial was in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers were John S. Zimmer, Mosby Toms, Percy Lackey, Leonard Sipe, John Larew and C. Whitney Caulkins. Honorary pallbearers were Marion Harner, C. O. Baugher, William Sandy, Linwood Sandy, Dr. Janems Gillespie and members of the Sessions of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The family said that contributions should be made to the memorial fund of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1904 Mount Vernon Street, Waynesboro, Va. 22980
Note- Tempie Glenn (Hensley) Mann Brown and Randolph Miller (Hensley) Mann were the children of Samuel Lawrence (#43196613) and Ynona Jones Hensley (#42523204). Their mother, Ynona, died when they were young. They were then reared by Miss Sallie Mann (#68857149). Their father later remarried, and had additional children. Among them was Virginia Patterson Hensley, aka Patsy Cline. Patsy Cline was a half-sister to Tempie Mann Brown and Randolph Miller Mann.
