William "Babe" Herndon Pearson Jr., 82, of the 1300 block of Cornwall Place, an independent insurance agent and certified life underwriter, died July 25, 1993, in a local hospital.
Mr. Pearson, a native of Hampton, was the son of the late Dr. William H. Pearson Sr. and Zula Segar Pearson. He was retired from the William H. Pearson Insurance Agency and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member and former deacon of Larchmont Baptist Church and sang in the church choir for many years. He was a member of the Commissioned Officers Golf Club, Norfolk Sports Club and Norfolk Exchange Club. He was a graduate of Maury High School and attended the University of Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Kate Mitchell Pearson; two daughters, Mary Winder Pearson of Middletown, N.J., and Susan P. Langston of Grafton, Va.; two brothers, Robert Bacon Pearson of Norfolk and Richmond Simkins Pearson of Portsmouth; and four grandchildren, Ethan Thomas Langston, Seth William Langston, Mary Gwynne Langston and Christian Ryan Langston, all of Grafton.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Larchmont Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. John C. Dean. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Larchmont Baptist Church, Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
